Once you determine the problems you’re facing, it’s time to tackle the villains behind them. The villains are lurking, spreading, and causing havoc. And while they are certainly affecting you, they’re also most likely affecting the ecosystem of your lake, including other plants and wildlife.

In the Identifying the Villain core course, we’ll cover invasive aquatic weeds, harmful algae, and potential water quality issues in more depth. Plus, there are separate courses that discuss the science behind these villains. We also have the Weed & Algae ID forum where you can interact with others about different species of weeds and algae.

The good news, again, is that SePRO Guides and experts that you bring into the fold can identify your villains and create specific solutions just for your lake.

Here are some examples of different villains that have affected lakes all over the country:

Lake Carl Blackwell: Yellow Floating Heart

Oklahoma State University was dealing with Yellow Floating Heart on one of their reservoirs.

Shohola Marsh Reservoir: Milfoil

Milfoil had covered almost all of Shohola Marsh Reservoir in a matter of a few years.

Santee Cooper: Numerous Invasive Weeds

Santee Cooper has been dealing with different invasive aquatic species for decades.

After you’ve identified your villain, you’ve got to evaluate solution options and find something that fits your needs, budget, and desired outcome.
