The best superheroes have numerous villains, each with a unique, adversarial strength that challenges a different part of the hero. Now imagine that your lake is a superhero. There are different villains that challenge lakes in different ways. Some lurk below the surface and spread very quickly; some sit on top and permeate the air with odor; some attack the water column itself.
We have grouped types of villains into three categories: invasive aquatic weeds, harmful algae, and villains that affect water quality. We will be covering each in detail in this course. Here is how each affect lakes in their own unique way:
